When the world cracks open, what do we plant in the cracks?

There is a rumbling. In the earth. In our bones, our bellies. All around us.
It is the world cracking open.
This is where the seeds go.
This is where the liberatory stories to transform culture grow…

Explore the Transform the Now Comics

We invited 2 visionary creatives—Anjali Kamat and Shizue Roche Adachi—to lean into the transformative power of sharing and embodying liberatory stories about our relationships to food and land with us. Each comic in this series of 4, brings one of Food Culture Collective’s community-surfaced core narratives to life—supplanting the insidious narratives of extraction and exploitation rooted in our nation’s history of chattel slavery, genocide, and white supremacy with liberatory stories rooted in care, joy, and mutual belonging.

Culture is our catalyst, our momentum, our collective muscle, to meet the food and climate justice needs of our time.

When you support Food Culture Collective, you nourish a community of liberatory storytellers and creative disruptors transforming our relationships to food, land, and belonging.

Tell the stories that free you. Water the seeds that feed you. Nourish the community that nourishes you. And together, we can transform the now.

Liberatory stories grow our cultural capacity for radical change.

For ten years, Food Culture Collective has cultivated a rich seedbank of creative resources to meet the escalating crises of our times.

Contributing to our $10,000 2024 Capacity Campaign will help grow 2 exciting programs:

  • Launching Summer 2023, FC Collective will introduce the culmination of its decades of programs and creative projects: (Drumroll, please) an annual, multi-media publication!

Our attempt to capture lighting in a bottle, the Dispatch invites you into the juicy stories, challenging conversations, and nourishing creative work bubbling up in food culture right now. Growing out of our beloved pandemic-era virtual series, the annual publication will feature food stories, essays, audio pieces, artwork, and more drawn from public submissions and commissions, as well as our extensive archive.

  • Launched as a follow up to our new podcast, Radical Nourishment, our Dream Labs are a space for community members to collectively envision food sovereign futures together. This facilitated creative process is designed to help us get specific on what we want to create, to grow our collective capacity to bring these dreams into reality.

Help us continue to grow and share these resources, and nourish the cultural work we need now more than ever.

Transforming food culture is directly tied to food and climate justice.

To ensure that life flourishes on this planet and our collective liberation, we can’t just focus on piecemeal solutions within food systems.
We have to go to the root. We have to transform the cultures that feed the systems and relationships that shape our lives.

Tell the stories that free you. Water the seeds that feed you. Nourish the community that nourishes you. And together, we can transform the now.
